Q & A with Nattie Kate Mason!!!

I’ve been chatting to the lovely Nattie via bookstagram and facebook. Her new book, “The Crowning” was given to me as an ARC to review. I decided a Q&A would be fun to do so here it is!!! (Review will be posted soon!)

⭐️Q: When did you start writing “The Crowning”?

A: The Crowning has been on my heart and mind for a long time but I really got stuck into it in National Novel Writing Month last year. 💖

⭐️Q: How long did it take you to write the whole book?

A: A few months total (once I got really into it) of full time writing, editing and proofreading, solely focussing all my energy on the one novel. Dedicating every spare moment to my story. Many late nights, cups of tea and 2am writing sessions went into this book 💖.

⭐️Q: What inspired you to become an author?

A: It has always been adream of mine to write a book. I absolutely love esceping reality through reading a book and love getting immersed in the characters and plot. Helen Scheuerer, is an amazing independent Australian author and I adore her books! Her creativity and writing is amazing. 💖 She played a large part in inspiring me to finally put pen to paper. I thought, “if she can do it, then so can I.” I have always wanted to write a YA fantasy book, so I thought, why not write the story I want to read!

⭐️Q: What’s your favourite book?

A: That is a tough one… I don’t think I have one favourite book in particular but books I find myself re-reading are: ACOWAR, HOF, & KOA.

⭐️Q: What’s your favourite book series?

A: ACOTAR 💖 but I also love TOG, & everything by Leigh Bardugo.

⭐️Q: What’s your favourite hot drink?

A: Caramel hot chocolate 😍💖

⭐️Q: If you had to choose out of Rhysand and Rowan, who would you choose?

A: Why are you making me choose?! Umm… Rhys… sorry Rowan, but Rhys is every girls fantasy bf. I hope my hubby doesn’t read this 😂

⭐️Q: Who is an author that inspires you?

A: Helen Scheuerer as I mentioned before but also Rebecca Laffar-Smith. I admire her for personal reasons, she is my author mentor and has taken me under her wing. She encouraged me to keep going with my book and taught me that you don’t have to have a big name author for your story to be important enough to tell and that everyone has a story to tell.

⭐️Q: Do you have any ideas for upcoming books? Any surprises coming up?

A: I am currently working on Book 2 of The Crowning series at the moment. I promise there will be a lot more plot twists and drama unfolding in Book 2! I did have a little surprise side project but I have put that on hold. My brain is constantly coming up with new creative writing projects. I would really like to write a few prequel short stories in the future focussing on a different character in each short story from The Crowning series, so the reader can get a glimpse into the characters back stories. One reviewer said she would really like to know more about Prince Alexander and he is someone I would really love to explore more so I think he will be my next writing project. But for now I am focusing on Book 2 of the Crowning which I am hoping to release later this year.

Author’s note:

Writing a book has been a lifetime dream of mine and I want to encourage everyone, that no matter who you are or what stage of life you are in, it is never too late to pursue your dreams. Live the life you have always dreamed of.
